Belle Plaine Public Library is currently accepting applications for the position of Library Director.

This position is permanent, part time, approximately 25 hours a week.

The Board of Trustees of the Belle Plaine Public Library (Kansas) seeks an innovative and community-focused leader to serve as Library Director and foster excellence in public service. The ideal candidate will have experience working and communicating effectively in a community setting and will have basic knowledge of library practices. Applicants must be able to manage a facility, supervise library employees, market the library and establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, city administration, community groups and citizens.


The Library Director performs specialized tasks related to providing library service to the whole community. This position also assists with other public service duties including: providing circulation services, readers advisory service, reference service, interlibrary loan service, assisting patrons with the use of library equipment, training volunteers, and other related duties that arise.

Belle Plaine, Kansas is a rural community of approx. 1,600 residents and is a short 30 minute drive from Wichita, Kansas.
